The Dyson Tap - Airblade wash and dryer/tap short (WD04/formerly AB09)
This is the next generation of the Dyson tap WD04 (formerly AB09). The latest Dyson tap dryer has improved the energy efficiency and noise level compared to the previous model whilst still providing a fast dry time of around 14 seconds. Using intelligent infrared sensors and computer circuitry, the tap initiates water and hand drying at the appropriate times and keeps both activities in the sink area.
Advantages of Dyson Tap - Wash and Dry
The main advantage of the Dyson Tap WD04 Wash+Dry is that water stays over the sink and therefore improves the health and safety associated with a wet floor. It also reduces the amount of time needed to remove water from the floor areas by the facilities team. This also reduces the amount of space needed in the washroom as there is no need for 2 separate wash and dry areas.
By reducing the airspeed and motor speed it is now up to 39% quieter than the previous generation and has been credited with the Quiet Mark. This has slightly increased the dry time but will still leave no user disappointed and traffic will flow quickly through the washroom.
How the Dyson tap and dryer works
The V4 brushless DC motor is still present and the rated power of the whole unit has been reduced by 600W to 1000W in total. This has reduced the carbon production and cost to run.
A HEPA filter for hygienically filtered air is included as standard which captures 99.95% of particles the size of bacteria from the washroom air. As with all Dyson Airblade hand dryers it has been approved for food preparation locations by meeting HACCP International standards.
Every second, up to 21 litres of air is forced through apertures measuring just 0.55 mm wide. The result – 341 mph sheets of air that scrape water from hands, drying them quickly and hygienically.
It comes with a water flow rate of 1.9 l/min when the normal aerator is fitted but this can be increased to 4 l/min as it was in the first generation with the low flow aerator supplied with the product.
It comes equipped with automatic duty flush. This works every 24 hours for 60 seconds after the last use.
There are 3 models of the Dyson Wash+Dry hand dryer. This is the WD04 short version. There is also a WD05 tall and WD06 wall version. Each one is recommended for different sink types.
Recommended basin types for use with the Dyson Tap -WD04
Porcelain and brushed metal basins work best with the Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry hand dryer. Not suitable for basins with highly-polished surfaces e.g reflective chrome. In multiple Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry hand dryer installations, centres need to be at least 580mm apart.
- Minimum sink width: 350 mm
- Minimum sink front to back: 300 mm
- Minimum sink depth: 100 mm
Please note the water pressure between needs to be 1-8 bar.
If you already have high quality taps and wish to add a retrofit, 'over the sink hand dryer', you may wish to consider the Dryflow Dri-tap to create the same drip free environment as the Airblade Wash+Dry hand dryer.
